Sailing Again

July 18 0800(L)/1600(Z): 300NM due East to the Straits
We hit the wind line last night. Sails are out. It looks like good sailing from here to the straits, about 2 days. We are making 7-8kts at the present on a beam reach with the genoa and main sail. The excitement of seeing land started to build 5 days ago or more with conversations and bets on what day that sighting would occur. With under 300NM and favorable winds, I believe the guess work is now gone. We will be at the straits on the morning of July 20. From there it is a a day and a half or two (depending on tide conditions) to our destination at Camano island. I did not win the bet, but look forward to the celebration nonetheless. Now back to sailing!
